Privacy Policy

This page explains what happens to the information you share with Nothing Matters. Now What? It is short, because we collect very little: an email address, and a note of what you asked for.

Who we are

Nothing Matters. Now What? is written and run by Evan Locke. For any privacy question, write to evan@nothingmattersnowwhat.com.

What we collect, and why

Book updates. If you ask to hear about the book, we store your email address, the date and time, which form you used, and the exact wording you agreed to. We use it to email you about the book. Nothing else.

The Drift Audit. If you tick the consent box, we store your email address, your scores and profile, the date and time, the wording you agreed to, and any campaign tags in the link you arrived on. We use it to send your breakdown and occasional emails. If you do not tick the box, nothing is stored: your result appears on screen and goes no further.

The Proof You Chose It course. We store your email address, when you signed up, where you came from, the wording you agreed to, and labels recording which parts have been sent to you. We use these to send the six course emails. We only email you about the book afterwards if you ticked the separate box for that.

Course feedback. The feedback page is anonymous. We store your answers and the time they were sent. No email address, no name, no IP address.

We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with anyone for their own marketing.

Where it is stored

Email addresses and sending records are held in Kit, our email provider. Early sign-ups are also recorded in a private Google spreadsheet. The site and its database are hosted by our web host, and anonymous feedback answers are stored there. These providers are based in the United States, so your email address is stored outside the UK, under those providers' own security and privacy terms.

How long we keep it

We keep your email address for as long as you want to hear from us. If you took the course and never asked for book updates, we remove your address twelve months after the course ends. Anonymous feedback answers are kept indefinitely, because they identify nobody.

Your choices and your rights

Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will do so. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

Google Analytics runs only after you accept cookies, to help us see which pages get read. It may set first-party analytics cookies. It does not run on course feedback or owner export pages. We save your Accept or Reject choice in this browser’s local storage for six calendar months. If the choice cannot be saved or has expired, analytics stays off. You can change your choice using Cookies below or in the site footers. Rejecting removes existing analytics cookies and reloads the page if analytics was running.

Separately, Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits for every visitor. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not track you across other websites. It tells us which pages are read and where visitors came from, in aggregate only.

Videos

Videos on /videos are hosted by YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; after that, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
